Although the same hull was used by other models, to me the Longbow with her fin keel, ketch rig and aft cockpit, seems to have eliminated most of the compromises you are usually faced with when deciding on a cruising boat. Designed by Laurent Giles, this 1976 Westerly Longbow is a solid coastal cruiser or channel hopper, or indeed is one of few yachts capable of doing the inland European waterways. built like all Westerly's of the period, to Lloyds specification and fitted out as a spacious family boat. With beautiful detailing you just don’t see on modern yachts such a spoon shaped stem, and rounded transom, and beautifully moulded toe rails and mid ships mooring cleat.
