Time to find a new owner for our lovely Westerly Storm. We've had great adventures with her and have carried out many gentle and sympathetic replacements and upgrades throughout our ownership, including new sails. She's safely carried us for many miles on our local cruising ground from Dartmouth to the Scillies and just about everywhere in between. She is a remarkably good coastal racing boat, winning many coastal races and the UPRS coastal series outright.
She's only available as we're changing to a more competitive inshore boat.
In our ownership she's had new genoa and main, spinnaker pole, sheets and guys, 10 replacement rope clutches, solar panel and charge regulator, three new 110A batteries, high output alternator, split load diode, new fuel tank, spinlock tiller extension, a £1750 Darglow Featherstream propeller a replacement Jabsco sea toilet, hoses and two bronze Blakes seacocks, a water filter and new high output automatic bilge pump with larger hoses. Her saloon and forepeak head-linings have been replaced and we're in the process of replacing the aft cabin and heads head-linings which will be completed in the next couple of weeks.
She has her original bill of sale / vat invoice and Westerly owners manual.
She's freshly polished and antifouled with our usual Hempel Mille NCT, has new anodes, her teak's been treated and she is ready to go for the new season. She's currently out of the water and can be viewed by appointment in Plymouth

Seven berths (A double on the fore cabin, a double in the saloon, a single in the saloon and a double aft cabin).
She has a double aft cabin to port with ample stowage and a good sized hanging locker / wardrobe. It is light and has opening ports to the cockpit for ventilation.
The L shaped galley has an oven with grill and two ring hob, built in cold box, twin sinks, drawers to one side of the cooker and large locker behind a door beneath the twin sinks. There are two further lockers above the tiled worktops and cubby holes fitted for the crockery which is included in the sale.
Cold fresh water from two large stainless water tanks is delivered via a galley footpump.
The saloon consists of a large u shaped settee to port and a long settee to starboard. There is an infill panel for the u berth which makes it a double. There is substantial stowage beneath, behind and above the berths and a long shelf both sides.
The saloon table is the normal 'two folding leaves' type but with hidden stowage for five bottles centrally. There are opening ports and a deck hatch as well as the glazed sliding companionway.
A 12V flat panel TV & DVD player are fitted, as well as the traditional brass clock and barometer set.
The navigation area consists of a forward facing vinyl navigators seat, good sized chart table with stowage and ample cubby holes surrounding it. Aft of this is a hanging locker with the Westerly tool kit drawer above.
Aft of this again is a good sized heads compartment with recent Jabsco twist and lock toilet, sink with manually pumped water, a mirrored locker above and a good sized locker beneath. There is an opening port to the cockpit for light and ventilation.
Forward is a separate double forecabin with lockers, hanging locker/ wardrobe, shelves, vanity unit/ sink with manually pumped cold supply. There is a good sized forehatch above.
Curtains, upholstery and canvas locker fronts/ zips are all in good order.
Lee cloths are fitted to the saloon and aft cabin bunks. All cabins have led lighting, much of it dimmable and ample USB charging points. The main saloon lighting and heads lighting has the option to use it in 'red' mode to preserve the night vision.
In the cockpit to port is a gas locker which drains to the outside and has two gas bottles with restraint strap. To starboard is a vast, deep cockpit locker with ample space for dinghy, oars, fenders etc.
Westerlies of this era are heavily built in GRP with a double layer of gel coat.
She has suffered some blistering to the gelcoat which isn’t uncommon. On a surveyors advice these were ground out, steamed, dried and filled with an epoxy filler. There’s been no reoccurrence, possibly due to keeping her out of the water for the off season rather than leaving her at her berth all year around, year after year.
The deck is a grp sandwich with a foam core. This doesn’t suffer the ‘softness’ the earlier balsa cores can exhibit.
Internally she’s fitted out with solid teak or teak faced ply and has the traditional holly cabin sole.
2 x bulkhead steering compasses, spinlock tiller extension, winch handles, Weatherfax, Raymarine plotter, AIS receiver, log and depth, VHF with cockpit command mic, tiller pilot, plug in solar panel, charge regulator and split load charging diode, battery meter, flat screen tv and dvd player with omni directional aerial. 35lb CQR, chain and octoplait rode, boathook, warps, fenders. 10 replacement Spinlock clutches. Pots, pans, cutlery, crockery. Two gas cylinders. Sprayhood, canvas tiller cover. Various spares. 2.4 m Zodiac dinghy, thwart and oars. It is an older dinghy with one tube patch and one floor patch but it holds air all season and fits neatly on the foredeck if you want to carry it with you.
At some stage in her life the original Volvo Penta 2002 was replaced with a new 18 HP Volvo Penta 2020. This has proved totally reliable and burns about 1.5 litres an hour at cruising speed. We replaced original mild steel fuel tank with a new, lighter plastic tank. The engine is fresh water cooled through a heat exchanger. The original mild steel exhaust mixing elbow which can be problematic on this model has been changed to an expensive stainless steel version in our ownership as a precaution. The heat exchanger boots and raw water strainer were replaced at the same time.
The engine has been owner serviced each season with new oil/filter/ Volvo coolant/water pump impeller.
We've replaced the original two bladed fixed propeller with a feathering three bladed Darglow Feather Stream which has transformed her handling under engine. The cutlass bearing and Volvo shaft seal have also been replaced.
Main and 145% overlapping tri radial genoa by Dart Sails in 2022.
Storm jib, looks to be unused
2 usable spinnakers, (one full large runner when we race with a full crew and a smaller kite for cruising)
New spinnaker pole 2022
Furlex genoa furler, age unknown but all maintenance and install manuals are onboard
New stack pack by Dart sails 2023
The boom and kicker strut were new shortly before we bought the boat in 2020.
We've replaced running rigging as required.
The age of the rigging is undetermined. We were told it was around 10 years old when we bought her.
Jon buoy inflatable danbuoy and horseshoe. Separate 'traditional' foam horse shoe. Throwing line. Recovery sling.
Flares, extinguishers and first aid kit included but date expired. Gas detection. Wooden seacock plugs. Ample safety harness anchor points. Manual bilge pump in cockpit. Oversized automatic Whale 'Orca 1300' pump with increased diameter discharge pipe fitted 2022.
